How to connect to internet after reformatting a computer?

I recently reformated my pc and reinstalled windows xp. Now I can not connect to the internet. How can I configure my computer to connect to the internet. Diagnostics states that drivers are installed.

Internet Options
Connections
Setup
..... and follow the wizaed.

That sounds like it should work.
