Question by MerelyMe:

What certification or Licensure does the State of California offer to MSW Social Workers?

I'm planning to relocate from Miami, Florida to Los Angeles, CA soon. I already hold a Masters in Social Work but no LCSW. I'm looking at Social Work jobs in CA and many state that the applicant must have a certification or license from CA to apply for the job. I'm wondering if they are saying that I must have an LCSW (or CA equivalent). Or, does CA offer a registration option for Social Workers as do some other states? Please advise! Thanks!

i heard u have to do a recertification all over again. CA is perhaps one state thats kinda non-flexible. but u can try by having all documentation of your work, certs, etc.
pl check with the county that u intend to stay in. each may operate slightly differently
