How come manga translations are different in Japan and the US?

Question by Negative Suicune: How come manga translations are different in Japan and the US?

I was reading Ultimo online and noticed something. They curse every, like, thirty seconds. The funny thing is that I have the Volumes and did not notice any... Strong language ("F***k!" says the main character). Are there different translation laws or something? Are you not allowed to curse in manga in the US?

Are you sure the same company translated it? Sometimes, more than one company translates a certain manga, and the translations differ, in your case, maybe one of the translators cut out all the swearing, or used weaker language to replace the "F**k!"s and stuff.
