Question by Apollo: What's the difference between Engineering and Civil Engineering?

I want to know how many years it takes to complete a degree in each field and how the curriculum compares. I'm looking at Engineering and Water Resources Civil Engineering. Information will be greatly appreciated.

Long ago there were only two types of engineering, civil and military engineering (building bridges vs fortifications, etc.). Both fields still exist where civil engineers still build bridges and West Point (USA) still trains military engineers for the Army Corps of Engineers. However, there are now many engineering specialties such as mechanical, chemical, industrial, aeronautical, and electrical engineering, etc. It usually takes about four years to receive a bachelors degree in engineering and an additional year to obtain a masters degree. Most engineering students study the basics of all fields of engineering and take advanced courses in their elected field. All students study advanced mathematics, physics and English (USA) as well as electives such as economics and psychology. Often you can find a college or university at which you might want to apply on the web (search engine) and find the courses and content for a particular degree there.
