Question by faithless: How did ghosts manage before electrical appliances were commonplace?

People seem to believe that ghosts draw energy from appliances and batteries and yet ghost stories have been around since before those things were invented, how did ghosts cope without electricity in the past?

Also, where did the idea of ghosts using electricity originate?

As technology has advanced, life got easier for ghosts as well. How they usurp it is anyone's guess. We know that spirits use some kind of biological energy, because after a material manifestation, people in the room where the ghost appeared can feel drained and weary. This has happened to me. Again, I have no answers nor speculation, I can only report what I've seen.
